Those of us who were lucky enough have grown up watching Back To The Future , will never be truly happy until we have a flying hover board, and not one of pure mockery. We are slowly getting there with works in progress such as the Hendo Hover however the limitations are clear.
As that miraculous day is still a fair way off, Barcelona startup, moCycl, has come up with with something to keep us happy and moving in the meantime. So what exactly does it do? According to the founding team, “moCycl is a revolutionary self balancing unicycle that gives its user the chance to experience an easy, fun and efficient way of moving around”. “It’s a breakthrough means of transportation that will be available to people all over the world”, they add.
The founding team, which consists of a Dutch, a Catalan and a Swede says that moCycl is specially designed to be light enough to be conveniently carried inside a backpack, small enough to fit even in a gym locker but still packed with a lot of power and battery punch that one can ever ask for.
With its creative engineering and the use of high technology Sony Lithium batteries, the moCycl only consumes minimal amounts of electricity. But its real edge lies in its lightweight and optimized dimensions that make it the perfect and most portable means of transportation.
The explosion of investment into electric vehicles has spawned the way for a brighter future but not everyone can afford the 100K USD price tag of a Tesla. Seeing the growth of alternative forms of transport, moCycl came up with this unique concept that they hope will change the way people look at transportation.
My initial thoughts were that the unicycle would be a little tricky to ‘ride’ but after a few goes it’s easy to pick up, and fun at that. Check out these tips on how to mount one of these bad boys:
To make this project a success, the founders have launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo where they hope that people who also want a better world that uses efficient, sustainable and ecological vehicles will show their support. The funds that will be raised will be used for creating the final molds so that the first batch of self balancing unicycle will be officially released to the public.
