If you’re living in Barcelona, you’ve probably noticed the increasing presence of food delivery apps hitting the market, and in January they really stepped up their game in terms of marketing. You’ve seen their billboards while you’re waiting for the metro and on the sides of public buses.
Their ads have invaded your Facebook feed and their printed materials are likely thrown all over the entrance to your apartment building. I’m not naming any names, but one of the worst offenders of this last category rhymes with Shmeliveroo. Clean up your act, guys. Nobody likes a litterbug.
However, these recent campaigns did make Barcinno curious on which of these apps delivers a reliable (and tasty) service. In order to get a better handle on our options we decided to go undercover as secret shoppers. We downloaded the apps from Deliveroo, Take Eat Easy, Just Eat and RestoIn, and tested them on five different criteria we thought were most essential for Barcelona food delivery apps.
- On-time delivery
- Price per km
- Politeness of delivery guys
- State of food delivered
- User friendly app
In the end, they all worked pretty well and we received our food 4 times out of 4 attempts. Good start. However, one of the Barcelona food delivery apps stood out among the rest. Find out which one Barcinno thought was best in the video below.
Lessons learned: Just like in every aspect of business, customer service counts. Arrive on time, get the order right and don’t forget to smile. That was the key difference that put our winner above the rest. It’s important to note that we only made one order per company and none of the Barcelona food delivery apps had any idea we were testing out their service.
Perhaps the other guys were just momentarily off their game, but when the competition is fierce, consistency is key. Maybe another secret shopper operation is in the works. Glovo, Unplis, Stuart…you’ve been warned.
What do you think? Do you agree with our findings? What’s your favorite food delivery app in BCN?
