Barcelona Tech, Startups and Innovation
After the Brexit-referendum in GB and general elections in Spain, many of us were very surprised about the outcomes. How did that happen? Why did people vote that way, what were their reasons?
At our Salon event we want to analyze both events and discuss them further. We want to analyze why the peoples in GB and in Spain vote like this and what were their motivations. But we also want to dig deeper and analyze the voter turnout, talk about the election system in Spain, look at different kinds of democracy and finally also ask ourselves if democracy is the right tool and if we need more or less democracy.
In order to provide us academical background to the discussion, we invited to this event Ferran Requejo, professor of political and social sciences at UPF in Barcelona. Ferran received various prizes for his work and has not only published various books but is also a frequent contributor in newspapers Ara and La Vanguardia. He will give us an introduction into this subject and also moderate the discussion.
The event schedule is as follows:
The talk (19:00-19:30)
We will start with a talk from Ferran Requejo where he introduces us into the subject. It will give us a base for the following discussion.
The discussion (19:30-20:30)
After listening to his talk we will discuss about the subject together with our guest, Ferran Requejo.
Networking (20:30-21:30)
As always we will finish the event with a networking session while we are invited to some drinks and some delicious tapas (included in the ticket price).
