Barcelona Tech, Startups and Innovation
How can we explore new solutions more strategically in order to solve challenges that really matter? How does this apply to the context of developing countries, and can open data accelerate progress on the SDGs? How can citizens engage in collecting and processing data in order to create social impact?
Our speakers from the Citizen Cyberlab in Geneva and Citizen Science Center in Zurich will share their experience from projects that digitized the entire League of Union archives (the predecessor to the UN), connected 3 million computers into a virtual supercomputer that discovered a potential application of carbon nanotubes to create clean water, or developing the world’s largest, low-cost strong-motion seismic network by utilizing sensors and Internet-connected computers.
After the presentations, there will be short but interactive parallel workshops to engage with each other on some specific questions around citizen science and open data, followed by an open networking space.
