Why does every networking event have to be at night? Why are they always during the week? And why do they always come with a presentation first and then a sponsored beer afterwards?

Let’s break those rules and attend a different networking meetup. One that’s on a Sunday, during daylight, walking instead of standing or sitting, and drinking isotonic drinks instead of Gin and Tonics. … (ok, this time we will have some isotonic beers)

Since Socrates went on walks with his disciples it’s known as an excellent way to become inspired, be more creative and also to get to know better like-minded people. Steve Jobs went on “thinking walks,” Mark Zuckerberg regularly does business while walking through the Facebook campus and Obama also often takes walks around the White House with his staff.

There is even some scientific research which proves that walking is good for your creative brain and soul:

This hike will be a mix of an urban walk, viewpoints some culture, a lot of parks – some of them pretty much hidden and unknown, passing by a couple of major sights of Barcelona. We will visit the Miramar Viewpoint, The Cactus Garden pass by the Montjuic castle, La Caseta de Migdia, The Botanical Garden, the Olympia Stadium and some nice gardens

After the hike, we will visit Poble Espanyol. It is an open air museum from the 1920s where houses and streets with the emblematic architecture of all Spanish regions were rebuilt and reminds of an amusement park. Normally it costs 8€ to get in, but today all residents of Catalunya can get in for free as it’s the annual “Biergarten” – an Oktoberfest-like beer festival – a bit weird to Catalans dancing to oompah-music on a fake spanish plaza, but nevertheless great fun.

Please bring some proof that you are living in Catalunya (NIE, Empadronamiento, Barcelona Library Card, Gas Bill – any of them should do it) – so you can get in the Poble Espanyol for free.
