EIT Alumni Start UP Days

The EIT ALUMNI STARTUP DAYS is a 51-hour event where graduates, researchers, developers, designers, young professionals, entrepreneurs, and start-up enthusiasts from different backgrounds come together to share ideas, form teams, build products services and embark on entrepreneurial adventures. The event is a community-building initiative that fosters multidisciplinary collaboration among fellow alumni as well as companies in the EIT (European Institute of Innovation & Technology) ecosystem. EIT Health, EIT Digital, Climate KIC Alumni associations as well as the commUnity by Innoenergy representatives team will organize the event.

This pan­-European event is matchmaking opportunity between Europe’s brightest minds in tech and their possible future partners or employers and it is scheduled in the weekend of 2nd to 4th December and will happen simultaneously in six cities across Europe. Participants can choose to participate in Lisbon, Eindhoven, Barcelona, Berlin, Paris or Stockholm. Last year was the first edition of the event with more than 160 participants.

What happens during the event?

During the event participants will form teams to work on their own business ideas or in other proposed challenges by sponsoring companies, focusing on sustainable development in four different areas of knowledge related to the EIT (health, climate, ICT and energy). In addition, the teams will be supported by mentors, who help to develop the first iteration of the business model for their ideas. At the end of the event, the teams pitch their ideas to a local jury and can win further support on site. Moreover, an overall winning team will be announced, receiving a prize for their innovative proposal.

This year a global participation of more than 200 hundreds participants is expected and the event will receive a special coverage in the Social Media and all the EIT Channels. As an example of the importance of the event, David Negrete, Microsoft Dynamics Business Group Director EMEA, will travel from Madrid specifically for being part of the jury on Sunday evening here in Barcelona.
