Startup Volleyball Barcelona 2014

Welcome to 2nd Barcelona startup beach volleyball competition!

It’s time to prove who is the hottest startup on the beach by competing for the 3scale Cup of the second Barcelona Startup Volleyball competition! The event will be running on Bogatell Beach in Barcelona from 5pm on Friday 22th August until about 8.30/9pm:

• Up to 12 Startup teams competing
• Sponsored drinks for Teams and Spectators

Even if you’re not a volleyball player, come down and hang out to finish up the week on a fun note. And if you are a player -bring your kit- there may be space in a team!

Teams

Teams will have 4 players on the pitch at all times, up to 2 substitutes are allowed. A team may be fielded by a single company, but can also be a combination of companies or other groups somehow connected to the startup ecosystem.
Standalone Players

If you don’t have a team, sign up as a standalone Player and we might be able to find you a team, either by grouping others like you together or a spare player for an existing team.
Playing Rules & What you get

The precise format will depend on the final number of teams but the plan is to work around the following parameters:

• A group stage, followed by a knock-out phase and final.
• 4 people from each team on the court at any time, up to 2 substitutes.
• Opinionated Team Manager optional 🙂

Watching & Times

The brave teams need spectators so if you’d like to come and watch sign-up with the “Spectator” ticket. There will be drinks available (kindly sponsored by 3scale) and a great ambiance.

• Playing time will be between 5pm and 8pm on Thursday  28th August.
• Teams should arrive at least 30 minutes before 5pm.
• Final will be played around 8pm followed by prize-giving.

Location

• The tournament will be held next to chiriguito La Guingueta de Bogatell, pictured above.
• It’s on beach Bogatel. See the beach names here.
• Nearest metro is L4 Llacuna or Poble Nou.

Friendly Competition

The event is for fun only and in the spirit of friendly competition – so we expect everybody to treat it as such. Play to win, but leave aggressive or dangerous play at home.
