Start-ups: How to achieve your goals

Stephen Harrison will talk this time about startups, business, and how to achieve your goals. Stephen told me that this was his favorite topic to talk about and I am looking forward to it (not only to the talk, but also to the humor and performance that Stephen puts into his talks)! Also, let’s have a networking drink after the meetup, as this might be one of the last meetups for me (I am going back to States this August).

Here is a short write-up by Stephen on the talk:

Having ambitions or aspirations is one thing. Achieving them or accomplishing your objectives is another. No ambition or aspiration can be truly realized unless one has a goal setting strategy. The eventual objective which is the culmination of an ambition is not exactly the strategy. It simply, is the goal. While having a goal is the starting point, it is the path that you take that matters the most. You ought to have a plan of action and you can only come up with one when you have a goal setting strategy.

Most people decide on unrealistic goals that cannot be achieved quickly and thus they tend to lose the motivation to achieve their objectives. There are many reasons why people fail to achieve their goals. From expectations that are too high to underestimating oneself, from lacking strategies to trying to be too conscious and aggressive initially and then quitting upon the slightest challenges, there are numerous factors that would come into play.
