Social Entrepreneur: Practice your Pitch and get Feedback!

February 25, 2016 @ 19:00 - 20:30

€2

Hello everyone!

Following your advice we will set up a pitch session for the next meetup that we hope it will help you get the funding, partner or clients you need to make your project grow!

Depending on the number of brave volunteers, no more than 5 entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to present their new idea in the format of a 5 minute pitch. It will be an informal and relaxed atmosphere where the main goal is to help each other 🙂

The ideas can be in the brainstorming, early development or early implementation stage.

Following each presenter’s 5-minute pitch, there will be a 5 minute period for Q&A and feedback from the rest of the group and the judges.

We strongly recommend that you prepare yourself and consider this useful guide with the main criteria you should take into account when preparing your pitch for a social business:

Problem: Describe the problem that you are trying to solve.

Solution: What is your proposed innovative solution? Why is it important? How will it be implemented in the field?

Innovation: How is the idea new and innovative?

Based in Evidence: How is your solution evidence-based? Why will it work? You can read this article about evidence-based program design: http://www.uniteforsight.org/public-health-management/evidence-based-programs

What is the Expected Impact? What will be the outcomes, and what metrics will be used to measure the outcomes?

Management and Financing: Who will lead the social enterprise? What are the proposed or anticipated funding sources or revenues? Have the numbers clear: how much do you need to start the business? How much money do you need?

Stage of Idea: Are you in the brainstorming stage, early development, or early implementation stage? What is your progress? How much funding, if any, has been raised? When was the idea initially developed?

Apart from María Isabel (vast experience as a consultant) and myself (experience starting companies, working for startups and in multi-national companies) who will help with the feedback, we will bring judges from different backgrounds. We have two confirmed at the moment and will complete updating during this week:

– Harry Marshall who apart from running his own company has worked with one of Silicon Valley’s top VC firms selecting and evaluating up and coming startups.

– Mariano Najles is an experienced entrepreneur, running successful tech and non-tech projects, who recently raised money for his latest app Celicity.

If you are interested in giving a pitch please send us an email to info@shakeitsocial.com with the topic and a small summary.

Venue is still to be confirmed, if you know of a cool place we can use please let us know 🙂

This Meetup and all the presentations will be made in english.

Everyone interested in the topic and with different, business or not, backgrounds is welcome!

If you have experience in organizing these kind of sessions and would like to make any suggestions to improve it, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!

Thank you!

Anabella and Maria Isabel.
