The Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS) hosts its annual conference in Barcelona, June 26-28, 2019, with three intensive short courses held on June 25. This event is a unique combination of scientific education, access to innovative technologies and intelligent peer networking, delivering unmatched value for professionals and students looking to discover the latest life sciences technologies and how they can be applied to drive research objectives. The conference brings together up to 1,000 scientists and technologists from around the world, along with 80 exhibitors showcasing the latest laboratory innovations. Innovation AveNEW is a designated area of the Exhibition floor dedicated to start-up and emerging life sciences technology companies. (Participation in Innovation AveNEW is by application.) Exhibitor Tutorials and Spotlight Solutions sessions will allow attendees an in-depth look at company’s products and capabilities.
The theme for the 2019 Europe Conference is Innovative Technologies for Tomorrow’s Discoveries, which speaks to the mission of SLAS in the global marketplace. Keynote sessions showcase global industry experts, offering intriguing insights into the trends and technologies changing our industry and our lives. Keynote speakers include:
– Ernest Giralt, Ph.D., Professor, Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona) who will discuss “Peptides for Molecular Recognition and Brain Delivery”;
– Andreas Vilcinskas, Ph.D., Professor, Head of Applied Entomology at the Institute for Insect Biotechnology, Justus Liebig-University Giessen, who will highlight “Insect Biotechnology, an Emerging Field with Great Economic Potential” and
– Leen Gorissen, Ph.D., Founder of Studio Transitio, who will share her insights on “Natural Intelligence – Building the Future on Millions of Years of Expertise.”
Four scientific tracks will be presented — Track 1: Advances in In Silico Drug Discovery; Track 2: Advances in Experimental Drug Discovery; Track 3: Advances in Laboratory Automation Technology; and Track 4: Careers, Business and Technology: Explore the Opportunities. Presentations are chosen from a combination of invited speakers and rigorously reviewed submitted abstracts and offer SLAS Europe 2019 participants compelling content and innovative perspectives on emerging laboratory technologies and drug discovery and development.
