The Master’s degree in Applied Telecommunications and Engineering Management (MASTEAM)(obriu en una finestra nova) organizes a weekly series of activities (talks, technical visits, discussion pannels) that complement the academic activities with real-world experiences from companies, research centres and institutions in the main topics of the master: Internet of Things, Smart Cities, 5G mobile communications, Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Radio (SDR), cloud computing, augmented reality and audiovisual services, among others.
This week’s activity will be a talk session from Dr Jesús Alonso-Zárate, February 21st, 17:30h (duration 1h), Building C4, Classroom 021B, EETAC, Campus Castelldefels UPC.
Title: “The Internet of Things: A Brave New World”
Abstract: We are approaching the end of the world as we know it. With the connection of everyday objects to the Internet, a new revolution is ready to come. In this talk, the concept of the Internet of Things will be introduced, identifying key applications, business opportunities, technologies, and research challenges that have to be faced before the new era of the connected things becomes a reality.
Bio: Jesus Alonso-Zarate is Senior Researcher and Head of the Machine-to-Machine Communications Department at the Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya (CTTC)(obriu en una finestra nova). He has more than 10 years of experience conducting R&D projects in the area of the Internet of Things (IoT).
