Learn how machine learning techniques can be applied to satellite imagery to extract meaningful results
About this Event
Satellite imagery of our planet is more widely available now than ever before: what does that mean to us here on Earth?
In this talk you’ll meet the tiny satellites that power Planet Labs’ global dataset of daily earth observation, and learn how people around the world use this data to make an impact on our shared world. This talk assumes no experience in imagery analysis or background in remote sensing concepts: attendees will hear a gentle introduction to relevant concepts and learn how data analysis techniques can be applied to satellite imagery to extract meaningful results.
Meet the speaker: Sara Safavi, Head of Developer Relations at Planet Labs
Sara is a software engineer and lifelong space geek living in Austin, TX. Currently she leads the Developer Relations team at Planet Labs, where she helps developers, data scientists, and geo-people do amazing things with daily satellite imagery. With a background in geoscience and over a decade of industry experience, Sara specializes in education and enablement at the intersection of software and all things geospatial.
