Luis is one of the preeminent Angel Investors in Spain and a professor of entrepreneurship at IESE Business School. He has invested in and been involved in possibly more successful internet startups than any other investor or advisor in Spain. Apart from investing and teaching, Luis has also been an entrepreneur and co-president in the Europa Press Group.

Luis has been generous enough to offer members of the Lean Startup Circle Barcelona some of his time to have a discussion on the topic: Bootstrapping or investors, which to choose? Audience members are welcome to ask questions and take part in the discussion, or can simply sit back and digest the information.

Since 1998, Luis has been investing in early stage technology companies, mostly in the “Consumer Internet” space. First as a Corporate executive, then as a full-time Angel Investor, and finally as General Partner of his own Angel Fund ”CABIEDES AND PARTNERS SCR”, he has made over 50 investments in companies such as Ole, MyAlert, Acceso, Baquia, Privalia, and more recently, Trovit, Offerum, Blablacar and Tiendeo.

In addition to investing, Luis teaches entrepreneurial finance at IESE business school. He has a degree in Philosophy from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, an MBA from IESE, and is a financial analyst with a charter from CFA Institute.

Luis was born in Madrid in 1960 and is married without kids.
