Conversations from the margins of tech
About this Event
CodeOp’s SubVersions is a remote, global series of fireside chats highlighting the projects and people on the margins of tech.
Speakers from all over the world, working at the intersection of tech and sex, performance arts, music, wine, society, and innovation, will share their stories and perspectives from their fields. The entire series is free for everyone wanting to watch.
This is something for the technically curious, creatives, entrepreneurs, techies, dreamers, and leaders looking for what’s different out there. These chats won’t cover the same old clickbaity, tech talk topics. It will be a unique opportunity to discover some of the most engaging voices from marginal tech communities and spaces, and engage with a collective of people talking about some quietly game-changing stuff.
📢 Meet the Panel: Rogim Designs, Anisan and UdTech from Sote Hub
In this session we will be joined by three entrepreneurs from Sote Hub: Kenya’s first rural based business incubator and open space for young innovators and startups to design market solutions to local challenges such as:
A smart kit that measures soil pH, nutrient and moisture level and send real time SMS notification with results. This has helped farmers decide on which type of crop to grow and hence boost production.
An elephant IOT device that alerts Kenya Wildlife Service to respond whenever elephants stray into homes, villages and farms.
📢 Meet the Moderator: Katrina Walker
Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Katrina moved to Barcelona to study and work as a data scientist nearly 4 years ago. Now, she is the founder and CEO of CodeOp—an international tech school for women and the TGNC community.
