Barcelona-based Cornerjob is the startup that promises to get you in contact with an employer within 24 hours.
They recently closed a series A-round of $10 million from several business angels and VC’s, such as Antai Business Angels and Mediaset España (Ad4Ventures), La Caixa Capital Risc, Media Digital Ventures, Banc Sabadell Capital,Cube Investments, Ithaca Investment, Samaipata Ventures and Bonsai Venture Capital.
Cornerjob’s goal is to streamline the hiring and job-searching process via their app where employers can advertise jobs and chat with potential candidates about their experience and background.
The app first launched in Italy last September, and has now expanded their business to France, Spain and Mexico.
Bigger team and a better product
Even though several actors have tried and tries to get the Spanish unemployed population in work, Cornerjob is the one of the only doing it solely from an app platform.
According to Techcrunch the last round of investment will be used for expanding the team, developing the product, and marketing. The company will soon launch a TV campaign in Spain.
“We really want to be the one-stop shop for blue collar work and high rotation jobs”, co-founder and CEO David Rodriguez told Techcrunch.
The company that was founded by Mauro Maltagliati, David Rodriguez, Gerard Olivé and Miguel Vicente in april 2015, says that 500,000 people download the app every week and around 4,000 new jobs gets posted every week.
Big brands aboard
The company already serve big brands such as Yves Rocher, Häagen-Dazs and McDonalds, and many more.
The race to employ Europeans have started, and it will be interesting to follow Cornerjob the coming year, and see if unemployed Europeans prefer a streamlined app before existing services.
